Product Description

1961 61 Chevrolet Chevy Corvette (Gold) | New Mexico "Blue Swallow Motel" | GreenLight Route 66 Series 1 | 1:64 Scale Diecast in Clamshell (GL 29700 Corvette)

Built by W.A. Huggins in 1939, the Blue Swallow Motel offers travelers a break from the long dusty drag of Route 66 that winds through New Mexico. Featuring the classic style of southwest architecture the motel has pink stucco walls and each room is filled with Retro decor. During the height of travel on Route 66 the Blue Swallow was owned and operated by Lillian Redman. Lillian put her customers first, making the Blue Swallow Motel an icon of Route 66 folklore. "I end up traveling the highway in my heart" says Lillian "with whoever stops here for the night." After owning the Blue Swallow for almost 50 years, Lillian sold the motel in the late 1990's. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, the motel continues to operate as a popular overnight destination. Today this classis Route 66 era motel stands frozen in time, providing travelers with a place for rest and reflection on a time long ago.
